Title: Header Pipe temperature and Header wrap
Post by Tiefighterpilot on 05/22/10 at 11:54:00

How hot does the header pipe (external) get?  I see that header wrap comes in 1000 degree and 1500 degree type.  is 1000 degree sufficient?

Thanks.

more than sufficient. You cant light a cigarette on the header so it isnt that hot. Im geussing somewhere in the 300-350*F range. There's thermal images of a savage somewhere around here if you're interested in knowing the temp for sure but like i said, 1000* is more than sufficient.

Holds your exhaust system together when it rusts into eight pieces!   ;D

JK!  It absorbs heat insulating the internal temperature of the exhaust pipe allowing the gasses to remain hotter and evacuating with less resistance.  Mainly used in Pro Stock and Top Fuel when they are running freakin' rocket fuel!!!

But in the right application, it looks cool as hell!  That's the only reason I would use it.  Well... THAT and maybe if my exhaust was rusted into eight pieces!  8-)
