HAVE A LISTWIDE PARTY !!!

OK, that sounds like a great idea

A LISTWIDE party is declared for Saturday, June 26th at Deal's Gap

Theme of the party is THE INCREDIBLE REX

Drive/ride up for the afternoon, drink a cold one and marvel at the assembled mechanical wonders .....

Have your woman's pic taken reclining across Rex's gas tank

Eat a weenie or a burger off the grill (or whatever you bring)

Go take a dip in the mountain brook up by the campsites

enjoy yerself meeting & talking to all the characters

you have met here on the list

and have yerself a really good time !!

If you're gonna have a "listwide" party, you better think about net access cause there's no way I can ride my iron horse that far on that date.

Best we can do is tele-party, skype in a conference call or someother BS.

I see what you mean, we did have a large amount of savage / S40 knowledge at Deals Gap and even some "know it all's" :) :) that could address about any problem anyone would have.

The only way I know you can be sure to not hurt someone's body or feelings would be to not show up..........and that better not happen.

I will be showing up early Wednesday afternoon with the rest of the Hole in the Wall Gang and I never promised not to upset you or the rest of the Dragon crew .... you can take it.

But I did promise not to upset the newbies and the ladies, nor hurt nor maim nor skin their knees nor upset them in any fashion.

I also promised the evil Crazy Frog would be gone and all his evil green vapors and the d'eau de frogginess would have been dispersed 100% completely by the clean mountain breezes by Saturday am.

You'll figure it out ...

On any list there are those that jest talk about it and there are those that go try and do some stuff.

This listwide party is one more opportunity to move from one camp to another -- it isn't that far away for more than quite a few of us East Coast folks

(check the Google list of our members to see how we cluster in NC SC Georgia Tennessee and all along the East Coast).

So here I am, a musician in MN who's not afraid to ride my bike long distances and you come up with this idea for a Sav-Get-Together in the one month I finally get a gig. And me with a ton o' questions for you Oldie. Oh well, I've got three sisters in NC so I guesses I'll just have to try and look you up next time I get that far south. You should see the Thunder Bee in person with all her mods inspired by you and this site. I haven't even gotten the nubs of my darksider on the back yet.

You bring up an interesting point about them darksider tires -- you realize that when we get together up there at the Gap Lodge that darksider tires will be a strong minority? A significant percentage, like 25% or better?

That's up a bunch from the earliest Gap run, it seems to just about double every time we get together.

Yup, its your chance to drink a beer and ask me and Lancer and all the rest of the heavy moddy boys yer questions.

And the Savage mods are heavy up there -- last year I was surprised by a high capacity gas tank that had been folded curved and welded by a young man completely out of flat metal. Looked good too.

And another Savage gas tank with a fuel gauge.

And a three cylinder Savage that Lancer had brought, it had a whole extra cylinder compared to the previous year ....

(hee hee) ;D

Michael Jackson was there too (which was amazing since he had died the week prior) and there was all sorts of carrying on and highjinks.

WE HAD FUN !!!

Yaaaaayyyyyy !!!!

Next month this very same time I will be loading up the Silver Surfer with clothes and stuff and getting ready to hit the road for Serenity's and Toymaker's houses up in Hickory/Granite Falls.

It will take me like 5-6 hours to get there (I plan extra time for butt breaks and a lunch stop).

Time to stop teasing Lancer and start praying for good weather .....

I'VE GOT A HELMET MOUNTED VIDEO CAMERA IF I CAN JUST GET IT POINTED THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
LAST YEAR I GOT ALL KINDS OF GREAT VIDEO OF THE TREETOPS ! ;D

OF COURSE IF I MOUNTED IT TO THE BARS THEN I COULD PROBABLY AVOID ALL OF THAT HASLE TO BEGIN WITH ........
BUT THEN IF I SAW SOMETHING I WANTED TO CAPTURE I COULD NOT JUST TURN MY HEAD AND GET IT......

I've given up on filming our rides, all sorts of issues with our PG rating system here on the list.

All I kept getting was video of people getting all horny and trying to mate with the hillsides .... :o

Plus, it wound up being EVIDENCE -- and that was something we all decided we didn't need. :-/ :-[ :-X :P

And thus was born the credo and official MOTTO of our little yearly excursion .... "Eventius Remando Mountaincanus" or some such Latin bullswipe which translates roughly into "what goes on in the mountains, stays in the mountains" or the correllary "what the wife don't know about can't hurt you".

And thus also sprang up the fiction that cell phones don't work way up thar in the mountains -- that way we don't have to call to check in every few hours so she can make sure we are still alive.

If myself and my bike able to be there I would. I have a setup on my handlebars for the video camera and would enjoy filming this.
Yet I am unable to ride still and is quite a distance from here to there.
For those of you that are fortunate enuf to be able to ride the Dragon, do so with the rest of us in mind.
