Title: front brake
Post by chunless on 05/03/10 at 11:16:12

hey guys,

my front brake is squeaking like a banshee, though the bike is only 8 months old.

it seems like when im rolling backwards the front brake is fine, or sounds fine, but when im going forward, at any stop it squeaks.

any ideas?

it cant be the pads already, right?

thanks

1st inspect the pads for thickness, if they are stock, then there'll be a groove cut into the pad next to the disk, if it's worn away time to replace.

next, squeaking usually occurs when it's dirty.  soap and water will wash away the brake dust.

and squeaking can be caused by dirt entraped on the pad, again wash it.

My preferrence for replacement pads are those with kevlar, but EBC pads are great.

EBC makes kevlar pads. My choice.
BTW when my S-40 was new, the front pads were shot in less than 3,000 miles.
I change the EBC kevlars about every 15000 or every spring , whichever comes first.
Don't scrimp on brakes.
