My '86 has that occasional 'hickkup' on cruise.. its ok on accel and decell.. just hickkups on cruise at low speeds under 45.. if I go faster its good. I opened up the carb but the spacer looks to be already modded.. it measured a wee bit under 1/8". I also have a fairly open muffler.. loud with baffles..

I just wonder if it has already been shaved and if it has , I may take it out and see what happens..!!

As my sig shows ?? I believe mine was .110 thick, I did 1/2 at .055

Mine was surging badly at low speed cruise, 2nd & 3rd gear,.....choke on 1 notch would improved it.
After the 1/2 spacer mod, it runs perfectly in all ranges, and starts and runs w/ less choking time when cold.

wow thanks for the fast reply.. i've been searching on here but couldn't find a benchmark ..mine is stock and will be 1/2 by tonite... appreciate it ... tom

that's great Mr. Hyde.. it is comforting to say the least that my spacer is stock or at least close to stock.. I remember thinking that it was a tad less than 1/8" (.110"??) but definitely NOT in the .050 range!!!!

Proves one thing, close tollerences wasn't hi on the list of priorities of the carb mfg.
Or, different spacers for different areas of the country ?? :o

you gotta wonder what effect fuel would have on it too... swelling or shrinkage??? I'll post my thickness when i get it out.. tonite i had to work on other things.. but in the morning she's coming apart.. again!
