Title: handlebar vibration Post by savagejoe on 04/19/10 at 03:23:05 I am looking for a cheap method to cut handlebar vibrations and suggestions. |
Title: Re: handlebar vibration Post by dasch on 04/19/10 at 05:43:39 Handlebar end weights, or sacks with lead pellets stuffed close to ends of handlebar? Helps on sport bikes a lot. |
Title: Re: handlebar vibration Post by Serowbot on 04/19/10 at 08:46:08 What bars do you have?. ... the stock pullbacks are heavily weighted from the factory... you can't add any to those... |
Title: Re: handlebar vibration Post by Phelonius on 04/19/10 at 09:40:49 Tie string on them and use bar end weights. http://bikepics.com/members/phelonius/p13/ Phelonius 8-) G%*d@mn photo didn't come through |

Title: Re: handlebar vibration Post by verslagen1 on 04/19/10 at 11:35:38 If you're feelin' some odd vibes, it's a good idea to check the motor mounting bolts. The ones above the head give a harsh vibe to the grips, down by the feet will put the feet asleep. |
Title: Re: handlebar vibration Post by Phelonius on 04/19/10 at 15:37:30 Yeah, thanks. Phelonius |
Title: Re: handlebar vibration Post by savagejoe on 04/22/10 at 15:08:03 thanks for all the info i have some 12.5 inch apes from drag specialties. I am going to try the bags in the bars. I will let you know how it works. |
Title: Re: handlebar vibration Post by Yonuh Adisi on 04/22/10 at 15:26:15 I'm wondering if you could maybe place some old inner tube around the bars where the risers clamp the handle bars to reduce vibration? I haven't tried it yet, but wonder if it would work. I think I'll attempt it on my days off and see what happens. |
Title: Re: handlebar vibration Post by verslagen1 on 04/22/10 at 15:43:58 weight by itself will dampen the vibes or at least make the resonant frequency slower. loose lead shot like what used in dead blow hammers will kill it. next adjust the stiffness of the rubber mounts for the risers. |

I think that all they are just a spring with a weight suspended within the bar could be a cool diy project ... would have to be a pretty loose spring I imagine with a guide rod and just a chunk of lead. That sort of vibration technology was first used on ships and earthquake prone skyscapers. Great idea kudos to Vibranator for trying it out on bikes. Let us know how the product works out for you. |
Title: Re: handlebar vibration Post by RadRacer on 04/23/10 at 03:21:39 gonna try these on my drag bars http://www.ifrantic.com/servlet/the-333/Handlebar%2C-Vibration%2C-Damper%2C-harley%2C/Detail |
Title: Re: handlebar vibration Post by babyhog on 04/23/10 at 05:48:53 Was it here that I read about someone making weights out of cigar tubes? Someone took a cigar tube, filled it with b-b's or buckshot or something, put some rubber o-rings around it and slid it into the bar. |

Title: Re: handlebar vibration Post by Phelonius on 04/24/10 at 15:28:14 Better than a smegway. This is small enough to stow under your desk or carry under your arm on the buss. Then just put it between your cheeks and roll away. Imagine the drag races in the hallway. Short tracking around inside the elevator. etc. Phelonius |
