Title: Jedi to Sith
Post by Yonuh Adisi on 04/18/10 at 16:22:48

That's right, I'm thinking of going to the dark side. I know there are several threads of going to a car tire and I have read most of them. Those who have gone to the dark side, and have had them on for a while, do you still have decent things to say about the mod? What if any problems have ya'll had? And besides the fact that car tires ain't as expensive, what pluses have you found with using a car tire?

The tread on my rear tire is getting worn and figure this would be a good time to go dark side.

I have darksided for years, but then I am a sidecar pilot.

I've been trying to go Sith since I got my dern bike.  Can't seem to find a place that will seat the tire tho.  :(

You will have to it yourself because of liability issues at any tire or bike shop.

But back to the subject at hand. What specific tire would recommend for a darksider? Not just brand, but specific size.

I've done some more minor mods since this photo was taken.

I use Michlin 135X15.  In sidecar usage it is good for about 25,000 miles.

having now seen a photo of the fire lizard, with a lightweight sidecar like a Velorex, I could turn it in about 15 feet of lane width.

Technique is attack the U turn by snapping the bars to the left at the same time as locking up the rear brake and using the front brake to max effectiveness.  Machine will piroette in its' own length.  If done in front of a leo, it may get you a piece of paper recognizing your ability.
