Title: I Guess It Had to Happen Some Time
Post by Tanker2Biker on 04/17/10 at 06:29:19

Well, It happened this morning.  I layed my bike down.  I was doing about 45 on a local street when a light changed in front of me.  I probably should have run on through it, but I decided to stop.  It had started to rain and the road was just to slick for it, and I lost the back end.  I was probably doing about 30 when I went down.  Got out from under it before it was all the way down.  I don't think I rolled any, just slid.  I'm OK, big bruise on my left thigh.  First driver by rolled down her window and asked if I was OK.  I had gotten up by then and done a quick assessment that nothing was broken.  Second driver stopped and got out and helped me get Doc back on his wheels and pushed over to the side of the  intersection.  There are some scrapes on the windshield, clutch lever, mirror, and the  shock housing is a little flattened, but he started right up and I rode him home.  One more thing on my list of new and different life events.

Good to hear your aok - hey normally some better levers on ebay - there wider, might be good time for some progressive shocks, might leave the battle scars on the windshield unless it's real bad - welcome to the club.

at least it was your mistake that put you down instead of someone else's.
bruises are easier to deal with than tire marks.  chalk it up as experience and keep rollin'

It is bad luck to point your oil drain plug at the sky while riding.

That's my plan.  Rode home, Changed my pants(no, that's not why, they were just wet from the road!)  Then I rode up to the bike shop and had them do a quick safety check.  Then rode for an hour this afternoon.

Glad you made it thru ok !

But I disagree,.....going down is not something that has to happen some time. Or, at least I hope not :o

I agree Routy 39 years and never been down,My brother the same 39 years never went down,My wife 8 years never went down,If I had thought there was a chance of going down,I would have never let my wife ride her on bike.

Glad you are ok.  3 weeks ago I was forced off the road and into a curb.  Of course it brake the tail light and my knee was a little sore but otherwise ok.  The brake lever has a wiked little curve to it now that looks kinda cool...but I would want to repeat to get the clutch to match.

What made me mad is all the people that drove by without stopping; including a Kennesaw cop.
