Yes, that really is a very cool seat.  Other stuff is nice too.  I like the mini-fairing in their store.

Now THATS how I wished the S40 had looked from the beginning!  The Yammie SR always did look sharp when styled like a Britbike,  except for those cast wheels.  Still pondering a way to move the footpegs back on mine some day, probably would need custom aluminium brackets bolted to the rear engine mount somehow.......

These Polished stainless steel headers are nearly exactly the size of the Savage header except for the flange bolt spacing.  The header ID is 1.5"
It is nearly 2" OD at the top and tapers slightly as it goes down.
The muffler end of the header is the same size as the stock LS650 header.
The length is very close as well.
I can get some made with a LS650 flange, is anyone else interested in getting one ?
I do not have costs yet but should have something this next week.
I am inquiring about a quantity purchase for a price break. and reduced shipping cost per unit.

It would be nice to get the headers for $100 ea incl shp to US.
That would be a very workable range.

I would be more interested if it were a full one piece, I'm tired of screwing around with slip ons. If that could happen sign me up.

Count me in for the $100 price range.

I've always loved the look of stainless over chrome, and I've been replacing or upgrading parts to that look when possible on my savage.

I like the one piece unit myself; looks better, works better, less hassle, and may cost less than a 2 pc.

This may be a naive question but what's the advantage of ss over chrome.

The one piece unit would suit me just fine. Suppose it wouldn't be double wall construction .....  ;)

i would also be interested in a one piece unit

SINGLE WALL

QUALITY SS WILL NOT RUST OR PEEL THE WAY CHROME CAN

if your fuel mix is good then the coloring should be minimized but there are no guarentee's of course

I'd have one. From memory of other threads, 1.5" ID is regarded as pretty much optimal - ? How does it compare with Raask header?

Raask is 1.5" ID also

so lancer...are you talking with motolanna about a group buy for what they have available with ls650 flanges, or for a group buy of ls650 specific pipes of the proper length and/or with slight bend at the muffler end? Have you spoken witht them about a raask style 1 peice unit?
Despite all my questions Im interested. I may, due to impatiece, go ahead and get one individually and just use the stock flange.

I understand completely, I had intended to get one myself to check for fit-abililty on the LS650 engine/frame.  Their pipes are virtually identical to the Stock LS650 header in all measurements and the stock flance should slide right on.

He is sold out of the standard shape but apparently has the "sweptback" version.
The "fit" of both versions should work for the LS650.

We could save a little by ordering together; small discount for larger order and also save some on shipping.  I'm hoping that all total we could save 15-20% to get them to our doors.

The one piece exhaust system is another question all together.  That would require a special production run with minimum quantity order required of about 50 units.  At least that is what I am hearing at this point.  If it is possible to use their stock components already on hand and just to weld them up together with the proper muffler bolt tab for out bracket, and then polish as normal, then perhaps it would not cost as much or need to be that large of an order.
I just don't know yet; more discussion needed after we can actually fit the header.

What I am after is an exhaust system as good as or better than the Raask but at half the price, delivered, here in the US.

I would be interested in the pipe if it were one piece and in the $100 range, count me in.

did anybody ever figure out if these headers would work?

Title: Re: VERY COOL SEAT, TANK & STAINLESS HEADER

I went ahead and bought one. need cut and extended in a couple places and a little fiddling with angles. The flange really isnt very close at all.

Maaaan, Im am SO gonna be needin a header. Since I gutted the inner pipe outta the thing,, its a welded together jigsaw puzzle & its Gonna rust out in a couple of years.

Title: Re: VERY COOL SEAT, TANK & STAINLESS HEADER

you could make it work with a lot less effort than you probably put into jigsawing you're stock shell

Does anyone know what the stock header ID is? Also about how much would an exhaust shop charge to just make one up for me. I dont need SS or Chrome s I plan to wrap it in fiberglass.

Take them the muffler and tell them you want it to fit in there.

If you blue, discolor or stain a stainless steel header, you hit it with 600 grit wet or dry paper and vola !!  all new again !!

I would consider a full pipe system, all welded stainless steel.

I'd like in on this if it's in the $100 range.

word of forewarning for those considering the mototlana header...it requires significant modification. The flange is not the same, one will have to be machined and welded on. The head to first bend is too short and will need extending. And either the first or second bend will need modified otherwise the muffler end will hit the case before it gets firmly bolted down. For the price and effort you'd do just as well to get some straight pipe and mandrel bends and make a one off.

Any luck Lancer, as far as the LS650 motolana pipe?
Also wishing you well. I try not to pry in the personal business of members but here's hoping you're holding up as well as possible.

Lancer,

What is the capacity on that gas tank, and will it fit on the Savage mounts?

Thanks

I think those tanks look way too long for out bike...

Yup,... just measured... about 7 inches longer than stock.
You'd have to lose the front seat and sit on the pillion... ;D...
