Did the 4 inch forward controls spliced the wires for the kick stand switch and rode to work just fine got ready to leave and bam blown fuse, anyone else have this problem?

If done correctly, adding to the wires did not cause a fuse to blow.

If I remember correctly, kick stand switch goes to ground.
So shorting any of this wiring to the frame will just give a false "up"
Shouldn't cause blown fuse.

So that would mean that the switch is normally open, wire not grounded, for bike to shift w/o killing engine.
I don't have a book, so I like to make notes on this stuff.

i used heat shrink and everything i know how to splice but ive never had a blown fuses til now so im guessing its related, but i made it all the way to work about 50 miles and a mess of red lights and no problem til i got ready to leave.

If its still blowing a fuse, and you really think its related, just elliminate the switch and wiring for the time being. Sounds like you would just twist the wires together, and tape them up. But if by chance the engine quits when shifting to low, untwist them and tape individually.

Maybe he means you might have pinched a wire when you put the tank on. I put the 4 inch controls on mine and did not take the tank off, no need. I also spliced the kickstand wires together and have not had any problems.

i spent sat morning diginn suzi outa the carriage house..
got er all spiffed up and clean..wouldnt fire
hooked up battery charger
would fire after 1 hour charge and down to 1 amp on charger gauge..
tried jump startin nottin no de comp click nuttin..
okay says me didnt live to my norm last winter of every two weeks cranking er up till the oil go warm..garage lost power and keepin the chickens water defrosted was a higher priority so no batttery tender..
went down and bought a new battery told the young feller i wanted no maintainence type..had the stock numbers with me got it home WRONG terminals nother trip got the right one ,installed the acid,got her charged up(6 amp 1 hour per instructions) installed and nuttin
no de comp click,led batttery gauge on handle bars red enuff juice but nutttin..darn..
got out the sm and traced the starting circuit...BOTH fuses are tyed into it..yeppers one was blowed...
had a good ride taht pm and a better 100 miler with a friend on sunday...

yeah i did that to I replaced mine at work with anouther 20 amp and it blow again as I started to drive out of the driveway.

Might not be the forward contorls then. What year is the bike?

Some people had issues at the headlight where wires rubbed.

ok so i replaced the fuse again, she starts up and idles fine as soon as I take off in first gear and decel to shift it blows the fuse I even used a heavier fuse 30 amp hopeing to maybe get it home but no dice.

I have done that too. There is part of the wiring harness that crosses over the main frame and is easily pinched by the tank. A little engine vibration and the insulation is rubbed off, then the short to ground.
After I re-insulated the wire at that point, I carefully re routed the harness to run alongside the frame.

so the fuse blowing issue is solved along with why my signal lights not working for about 6 months. that wire was severed also right next to the motor mount area on the frame with little inspection I also found that my motor mounts where loose, so all in all the fuse blowing was a good thing.

fio its dangerious to start putting bigger fuses on any circuit 20amp is all the 12 awg wiring on the ls is rated for...have seen more than one boy racer car on the side of the road burnt to the rims cause they wired/fused their over powered stereo wrong...
