Title: difficulty turning over Post by buttgoat1 on 04/11/10 at 16:32:52 3 months ago, I tore down betty, checked the cam chain tensioner. Did the verslavy mod, took off both of the side cases, cleaned them and painted them while I was at it. I finally buttoned everything back up today, thinking I would be able to ride. but the engine did not want to turn over, charged up the battery, even put the battery booster on and still not cranking. The wire to the starter was smoking hot. I took out the plug and turned the rear wheel and it was tough! felt like it still had the plug in. everything cranked over fine before any ideas? |

Title: Re: difficulty turning over Post by buttgoat1 on 04/11/10 at 16:56:26 a thin washer did fall off and I put it back on the shaft it looked like it belonged to. what is going on there that would make it so tough to turn? |

Title: Re: difficulty turning over Post by Reelthing on 04/11/10 at 17:01:48 both washers go on the same shaft if I remember correct - one on each shaft will misalign the gears and lock the bugger up tight pretty good picture around here I start looking for it |

Title: Re: difficulty turning over Post by buttgoat1 on 04/11/10 at 17:28:57 thanks guys will check it out this week Despite this setback, I still did to get to hear the roar of the engine and feel the wind in my face, along with the smell of fresh cut grass............ it is a fast mower, not as fast as Betty, but it did start and run..... |
Title: Re: difficulty turning over Post by Reelthing on 04/11/10 at 17:54:20 Likely the gasket will be ok if you never got it running |
