Title: clutch
Post by rl153 on 04/11/10 at 12:58:53

My 2005 s40 has 3k mi on it . The clutch grabs right at the top of the lever when its let out . It doesn't seem to be slipping tho . But sometimes the gears seem to bang when you shift as if you weren't using the clutch . Could my clutch be worn out already or is this an adjustment ? Thanks

Loosen the adjustment up on the clutch lever. Put some slack in your clutch cable. You need to have at least 1/8th inch of free travel in the lever before the cable comes tight.

also take note of where clutch lever on the case is.
there's 2 lines behind it.  You're supposed to keep the lever between the marks by swapping out a rod under the clutch cover.

There is at least 1/8 inch play in the lever ,I think I have to do what verslagen said and do something under the clutch cover . I might have to take it in . Thanks.
