ok, so i'm still up in the air about hardtailing her, if i do i'll put my seat on springs and get one of those suction cup ones for my woman...

my next ? is, can i lower her with the stock springs?

You would have to take the shocks apart and cut off some spring.

or move the shock mounts on the swingarm back a bit, or find some shorter shocks at a swapmeet.

Cheapest method,...  let the air out of the tires... :-?...

On my '70 750 Honda I installed crome steel blocks that bolted to the swingarm lower shock mount and moved the bottom of the shock rearward to lower the bike. Back in those days you could buy these lowering blocks at most bike shops. I don't know if you can find them now or if they would fit a savage?

Its hard without a shock compress but can be done,You need a needle nose vise grip to hold the shaft and the theres a nut you take off.Hold the vise grip at the top so you don't wreak part of the shaft that will be going into the shock or it will wreck the seals.I have done it so it can be done.
