Title: Help me find these bikes.
Post by gerald.hughes on 03/29/10 at 20:31:45

I know that almost everyone on this site either bobs, or chops.  I am interested in turning mine into either a standard, or a cafe.  Below are pictures of three Savages that have mid or rear set pegs and controls.  I would very much like to be able to communicate with the owners of these bikes.  Does anyone know who owns these machines, or how to locate and contact them?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure, smokin_blue was doing one, last one looks like the one in the italian monkey ward frame.

second one is a stock frame, looks like a german plate.

that 1st one an odd pic, looks like they shaved the fins off.

If that's true, then I'm really in the minority.  But my sense was that most people here make a few personalized mods on essentially stock bikes.

Suzuki did a very nice job with the '97 Tempter.  Too bad they didn't import it (as a 650), I would much prefer it to the cruiser style.

Tempter pics (I hope the links work!):

If I remember correctly, wasn't the 650 Tempter a twin cylinder?  The Tempter in my links uses the Savage / S40 engine.  It was available as a 400, I don't know if they made a 650 version.

Yep they wee twins 270 degree firing which gave them a lot of torque I geared mine 1000 less rpm than stock,Turned about 3600rpm at 60 mph. Most gas mileage I got was 68 mpg on a trip, and they had richer low and high speed jets than stock.
