Title: Ton indicated
Post by Yonuh Adisi on 03/29/10 at 07:10:18

On my way to work last night I looked down at the speedometer and was shocked to see that I had inadvertently reached the ton, indicated of course, actual speed I do not know.

Don't tell my wife though, she would shoot me. http://annemccaffreyfans.org/forum/images/smilies/redfruit.gif

It's an English thing..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ton-up_boy

"Rocker-style youths existed in the 1950s and were also known as ton-up boys because ton-up was English slang for driving at a speed of 100 mph (160 km/h) or over."

As a kid in the 60's in the UK I remember seeing bikers with the jacket patches indicating they had done the 100 mph thing and being rather awestruck and a little scared  ;D

I only used the term 'ton' because that is what everyone else on this site seemed to use when speaking of making 100mph. And no versy it was not a metric ton.

Well, I'm under no illusions that I'm fast any more. This last Saturday, the wife & I rode the V-Star up to the Texas Mile.
Minutes after I took this picture, this young lady, known as "Nine Second Jen" ran 229.5 mph for the mile. She backed that up later with a run of 230.7, a new personal best for her. 8-)

Nothing much really. I have Lancer's 1st generation performance cam, K&N air filter, 152.5 main and a 52.5 pilot. As well as adjusted fuel/air mix. That's about it really, most of the rest is just cosmetic.
