Title: Zerk fitting... Post by Serowbot on 03/25/10 at 00:05:47 Most of the old bikes I owned had a zerk fitting on the swingarm (mostly dirt and DP bikes)... Does anybody lube their swingarm?... I've got 22k and am still running on factory grease... I think the time has come... zerk or no zerk... :-?... |

Post by Charon on 03/25/10 at 05:59:15 The Factory Service Manual for my Kawasaki 250 Ninja says the swingarm bearings (and the Unitrak suspension linkage, which the S40 doesn't have) are to be greased every 6000 miles. Kawasaki doesn't provide Zerks, either. Greasing requires removal of the swingarm. I didn't find a reference for the greasing interval for the S40, but included Kawasaki's for information. The Kawasaki forum seems to feel Kawasaki is mighty sparing of grease during the initial factory assembly, and I would imagine Suzuki is no more generous. |

I did however Smear a coating of red longfiber bearing grease on the pivot bolt to inhibit rust when I put them back in. Phelonius |
