Title: Hello, New savage owner here, Athens GA
Post by metricman on 03/08/10 at 16:14:56

Hello I am Chuck Smith aka MetricMan.
I am new to savage, but not to the suzuki.
I have a few ?? about this project bike I just bought.
I have a 97 savage that I just bought from some real hillbillies. the bike will not run. I am in search for a wiring diagram, the has had a bunch of riging done to it. I would like to know what color wires run to the ing switch.
I have got the eng to spin over but jumping the starter with some jumper cables, But I have no fire. any help or suggestions.

My plans are to turn this bike into a cool bobber. but first I got to here it run.

You are awesome thank you.
I will update with my findings. from what I have been  reading on this forum, the 650 eng is rock solid, correct?

Depends. yea, its tough, but, it has a petcock that will loadthe oil w/ gas & a cam chain tensioner that will kill the engine dead. IDK how long it sat, but Id change the oil & filter. If it sat a long time w little fuel, Id be looking in the tank.

Dead on, I changed the oil and about two quarts of gas came out of the engine before the oil did. good call 8-)

You say you jumpered the starter. Check the bike battery. The bike needs a decently charged battery to provide the initial plug spark to fire up. I'd check the plug too.
