I ordered a set of Ed's Forward Controls for Doc (my Savage) They came in and I looked over the instructions and chickened out on the install. I took it down to my local bike shop and spent a couple hundred to have them install them.

I think I'm glad they did, they had a little trouble, so I would have had no luck.

This is not to say that anyone else with reasonable wrench turning skills wouldn't have been able to do this easily themselves.

The only thing they did that was not in the instructions was they built a small harness and kept the side stand switch wired. I may have to get some more tension on the side stand spring, cause i managed to nudge the stand with my heel twice on the ride home and since it's still in the circuit, Doc cut off. I'll have to look at that

Even on the 5 mile ride home I could feel the difference. It is soooo much more comfortable. I'm 6'1" 300lbs and the original position was pretty cramped.

I would recommend Ed's kit to anyone who is on the large size. I took before pics, and will get some after and see if I can get them posted

Yes, they were a big difference.

As for having to tweak them, yea, I did too. But, you need to undersand that Ed is a Forum member helping others, not a big company. He does most work by hand. I'm surprised he still has all his fingers...... I really appreciate that he did this.

I guess it's to a point were we should all chip in a few bucks so that Ed can get the plates done up on a CAD tool and then he can have them cut on a Water-jet. It's only a few bucks to get each part cut if he suppliies the aluminum stock ( here in PA $7-$10 ea), but hundreds and hundreds to get the design made for the machine to read.

I agree. Don't get me wrong, I think this kit is WONDERFUL. My comments were not meant as a criticism of Ed or his product! It was a comment on my poor to non-existent mechanical skills.

I took Doc to work this morning in Houston. Temp made it into the 50's, so pretty nice. Then, of course, it started to rain just as I left the office. Got pretty well soaked in the 20 min ride home. Cleared off and I got another ride in this afternoon.

I just love the feel of the forward controls

Legs are much straighter & more comfortable. My son & I did a couple hours this afternoon, to, around, through, and back from the Woodlands, TX, north of Houston with no stiff or cramped legs.

I can't all the credit for the design, they have been around for years. I'm glad they fit with just a little tweeking, there has been a lot of little adjustments and changes since I've started to make them more install friendly. Don't worry about gettng a CAD setup for them, it is a bit of a challenge and a lot of fun cutting them by hand. The hairy part is using a drill press with a cutting burr to clean up the inside curves. Glad you like them. Ride safe.
