My buddy has a 96 Savage and it has started sputtering and hesitating real bad. I pulled the choke out to the first stop and it ran a little better. With choke off it runs very bad. I took carb apart and cleaned it very well. This made no difference. Anyone have any ideas what is going on? Can the carb itself just be faulty?

Starving for gas? Maybe fuel filter in gas tank is plugged up.

How does it run on prime?
if same not the petcock, I'd replace the vac line and clamp both ends.

Couple of places a carb clean may over look, there's a screen on the inlet to the float valve. I found a hairball in there once. There's also a screen on the tank pick up.

I had to go thru a carb several times once before it cleaned up and ran right.

Been playing with the carb and that isn't changing much. It "s like you can get on the gas and it will sputter then it will stop accelerating but the engine continues to rev higher like you should be moving faster. This has been a strange one and is gett the best of me for sure.
