Title: Replacement seat
Post by Reggie on 02/03/10 at 05:12:01

Okay, I just found this forum today and what a great source on the Savages!  I look forward to gleening much useful information.  I just searched for info on replacement seats and came up short.

Hope you guys can help.  Apart from the expensive aftermarket sources, is there any other seat that might be readily fitted to the Savage frame?  When I say "other" I mean from a Sportster or Yamaha, etc.

Thanks!!

I've been riding on my $50 Ultima High Noon saddle for a year and a half.  Bobbert and Simon TuffGuy followed suit, but with different mountings.  Sluggo has the narrower seat.

Nice thing about making your own mounts is that you can position the seat *EXACTLY* where it feels best for you -- and if you want solid mounts, sprung front, or sprung rear.

I bought a Mustang seat for an older Sportster from Ebay pretty cheap.  The pan didn't fit the curvature of the S40, so I had an upholstery guy take the cover and guts from the Mustang seat and transfer it to the S40 seat pan.  The S40 seat is a little bigger than the Mustang, but he got it on and it looks pretty good.  Sorry I don't have any pics just yet.  Dang weather, haven't been out on the bike since it was done!!

There is also a "Sportster seat mod" thread in the Tech section also.  I was just never sure what year model Sportster was supposed to work.

Paladin -- I still have your Savage front seat, and don't need it now.  You want it back?
