Title: What do you think about a torque screwdriver?
Post by prechermike on 01/27/10 at 18:31:30

Ok, I need to do the head plug thing.  I only have a 1/2 inch drive torque wrench.

I found this: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=65397

What do you guys think?

Thanks

How much use is 3 ft-lbs of torque?

Get the 1/4" drive when it goes on sale.

Sears has a beam type 3/8 torque wrench I used for some job on the bike, worked fine. Cheap enough.

You won't have room to use the torque screwdriver on the head cover due to frame and other items of interference. Max

Preacher Mike, you need to go on-line and get a copy of Convert.exe which is a program that exchanges one measurement type to another easily and accurately.

39 inch pounds isn't enough torque to do a side cover or a head cover, not by a factor of 2-3 anyway.

I use a 0-120 inch pound quarter inch drive beam torque wrench that is simple, easy to use and plenty accurate.

Have to be real careful with those stock bolts any how. I tried to set one to spec and it started to twist off, I don't really have any stock ones left anymore.
