Did you recharge the battery?
Nothing going to happen if you don't.

Dead battery, try a jump (turn vehicle off while jumping from battery).

Battery might not have enough charge to crank and fire the plug,I would charge the battery.

Ive heard its possible to hurt an ignition by leaving the power on & engine off, but that for damage to occur, the circuit had to be in the "deliver a spark" moment. Ive screwed up several times & left cars & the bike on & never hurt anything, but Ive heard it can,, so, that said, Id check all the connectors & make sure nothing is corroded or loose, Id KNOW I had a fully charged battery, if that meant hooking up cables to a car, just to eliminate a variable & then Id check. Heck, first thing Id do is the Hot Battery connect & test. Since you had the plug out, the starter wasnt working too hard to crank it, so the V drop on the battery was less & if it was spinning over at a good clip, it should have given a spark, If you had a good ground on the plug.

I also heard CDIs burn if left with ignition on for too long.

Just a thought but there are those two fuses under the seat and that little tiny rely/diode dealo under the gas tank that is wrapped up in the bundling. I don't know, just throwing out random stuff.

CDI - I think it's a wrong term for ignition controller. Black box that controls if and when the spark fires. Some folks call it
the computer" !!!  ;)
