Title: Interchangable Suzuki parts with SAVAGES? HELP!!!!
Post by Need Parts dude on 01/19/10 at 12:50:35

I need to know what years of Suzuki  are interchangeable with a 1986 SAVAGE 650ls, because I need some parts for my engine-clutch carb ect. and I don't want to buy expensive parts online.

clutch is different. Engine and carb are the same through all years except for the jets in the carb. What exactly are you looking for?

Give us a list of the parts you actually need and I am sure we can let you know what will interchange.

Carb is interchangeable through all the years (just jet sizes are different as stated above). Clutch I am not sure about, and I just sold a wiring harness to another member that would have more than likely worked for you.

the carb you can get on ebay for pretty cheap. Or if you havent found one by spring time i'll sell you mine as im switching to a VM. The wiring harness (i assume you need the cdi box too) is going to be trickier unless someone here has one. You might find one on ebay but it's got to be for an 86-88 model. The cdi is probably going to be quite pricey but you may find one on ebay. The cdi also has to be for an 86-88 model. Do you have a starter motor? I dont know if all years are interchangeable for starters but if they are get a newer model one. I dont know about clutch basket interchangeability.

carbs are interchangeable, but not exactly the same.
clutch is the same but the basket is not because primary gears are different.
Wiring for an 86 is different.  Don't know if they are interchangeable with later years, but other then the controls and the kick stand switch, most other component connectors are the same.
CDI is different.  Don't know if they are interchangeable with 87 or 88. not interchangeable with 95 on.

Dude where are you at?  There might be locals that can help you out.

Verslagen, do you know what problems running an 86 CDI (bike is an 86) on a say a 95 or later engine will cause??

And, It WILL need the later CDI to run right , or the 86 one?

Also ,if it needs the later model CDI, is it a straight swap out with no mods needed to the 86 wiring, etc?

THANKS in advance 8-)

does anyone know what sidebars you can use to replace the stock savage sidebars if you want to take the sissy bar off?

I have a complete carburetor; fully rebuilt by me.

It has been completely disassembled, checked, cleaned, jetted with #52.5 pilot, 152.5 main jet, the white spacer has been filed to 1/2 its stock size; the pilot screw assembly is new and set at 1.5 turns out for a good starting point for your fine tuning, and the slide has been messaged with secret carb fairy dust to make it more responsive; & a new float bowl gasket on its bottom as well.

It is ready to bolt on and go.

This is better than a new stock carburetor.

It is $100 + $10 for shp in the US = $110 total, and can be sent via paypal to "savage.s40@gmail.com"

If you choose not to take it then it will go on ebay for $175.

PM me if you are interested.
