borrow some of your wifes nail polish.  Perferably the candy apple (tinted clear) type.

You could always put some car tint film on the glass (plastic?)

Buy some of this stuff from stylintrucks.com:

..and use the rest on your Stylin' Truck!   :D

You can buy glass paint at a craft store (( http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?CATID=cat2987&PRODID=prd33875 ))
Or you can buy one of those little paint-your-own glass suncatcher/wind chime kits that includes red paint!  They usually have those cheaper than the paint kits!

so you guys are saying paint the whole glass?

would the paint hold up to weather?

and how do the plastic "window" come off?

Oh, I was thinking to paint the bulb, not the cover.

Paint it with a red indelable marker. Works great!  :)

Pull the bulb out and figure a way to mount a red LED in its place. Painting the bulb will work, too, but the paint absorbs some of the light and will result in a dimmer speedometer.

Painting the bulbs can make them over heat and burnout quick.

you need to pull the lamp and match the base to an led type like @
superbrightleds.com
if its a #194 the local auto zone may have them also

The reason I ask is that my original speedometer bulb has gone out and I figure why not replace it with a tinted one if they have them.

This is the bulb that burned out. I reckon it is actually an L.E.D.

AutoZone has those in different colors. It's just a #194 bulb, not an LED. 8-)

Thanks, I'll check out autozone as soon as I get a chance.

did the bulb come out of the bottom of the speedo?

and it's the bulb that's kinda green yellow right, not the speedo itself?

Looking at the bottom of the speedo you will see the wires that go into the unit. Those wires hold the bulbs that are just pushed into the speedo. To remove the bulb you pull the wires gently from the speedo then just gently pull the bulb out of the connector.

The color of the light such as high beam indicator and neutral is the color of the lens the light is shining through. The bulbs themselves are normal white light.

Stand by and I will get a pic of the bottom of the speedo.

These are the wires the bulbs go into. They just push in. (I know, I am showing more wires than there are spaces in the speedo. That is because the other wires are turn signal indicators and I do not use them because I have done away with the black plastic housing that houses the turn signal indicator area. I don't need it since my turn signals reflect rather well off of my head light bucket so I use that as my indicators. And my neutral light is still installed in my speedo so that is why you only see four wires in the pic.)

This is the bottom of the speedo. The large hole on top and the two holes on bottom are where the bulbs push into. The top hole is the main back light for the speedo face. The two bottom holes are neutral and high beam indicators.

You're the second person who has told me it is a #194 bulb. I reckon that is what it is then.  ;) ;) So I shouldn't have difficulty in getting what I would like then. Thanks Thumperclone.
