Title: Any Corbin seat updates???
Post by Mr. Hyde on 01/05/10 at 06:13:04

I am seriously thinking about getting a Corbin seat for my '07 even though the shipping costs and such will kill me financially.

For those who have one anything new to add? In hind sight would you have made the purchase?

Thanks

I have had 2 corbin's on 2 different bikes - GS X 2 and seca and maybe even a couple of others, and all I can say is yea I think they are OK, but no way they justify the cost.
Also I need to find the genius who put that basket weave pattern on their seats and run my bike over him about 35 times.

I would rather spend the $ at my local upholstery guy, get the vinyl of my choice and foam fit to my butt ... so I donthave to deal with that basket weave garbage.

BTW my favorite seat was a shaved and contoured down seat off my eliminator 1000 covered with a textured vinyl that I have since not seen nor have any others heard of them. It was supposedly tough as nails and barely stretched. Light texture mind you, so it didn;t collect rain like corbin's do.

Cool.
Srinath.

The stock '06 S40 Bopulevard seat is the most comfortable Cruser seat I have owned. I have had 5 seats on 3 Crusers and I find the stock (OEM) seat on the S40 to be the best so far. No back pain, no numbness...just right. I would not even want the front tilted up...Less pressure on private parts. The most comfortable seat I had on my '06 Sportster Custom was the stock seat. Took me a while to learn that. I had to try a pillow seat and a hard Mustang seat before I realized the original was the best. Since I had sold my first OEM had to purchase another. This is just my rears opinion.

Here's another option for you, if you haven't looked at it.
http://www.oneidasuzuki.com/store/parts-accessories/custom-gel-leather-seat-s40-2005-06-boulevard.html

I'm with srinath on the Corbin basket weave.  I don't care for it and wouldn't spend that kind of money on something that I didn't even like the looks of, but to each his own.

I got a Mustang seat for a Sportster Ironhead off Ebay for cheap.  Of course, the curve didn't fit my S40, so I took it to an upholstery guy and he transferred the Mustang leather (vinyl) and padding to my S40 seat pan.  I also had already put Saddlemen raw gel into my stock S40 seat and he was able to incorporate it into the new seat.  Looks much better, and I like the feel while sitting on it, but haven't been able to ride since it was done...  dangit...

But there have been a few here that love their Corbins, so we can't really make up your mind for you.  Does Corbin have a return policy in case you don't like it?  Could you re-sell it if you don't like it?  If I didn't really have the cash (which I didn't), I'd find a less expensive option... unless the Corbin is what you really want...  just my 2 cents... I know I was alot of help.... heehee

So many comfy looking saddles out there. Palladin & others have done some work & mounted some very sensible looking seats, for low bucks. Why spend so much just on the seat?

I have that seat BH it has more cushion than the stock seat,It also moves you foward  almost 3 inches which wouldn't be good for a tall person I'm 5-6 so I will get uses to it,I just got it, only used it for about 100 miles,So its still a little early to say how good it is.

Because thats where you sit most of the time on a motorcycle.

Gel seat on my GS 500 was like manna from heaven. I may even have bought it from that oneidasuzuki people.
Same with my sv1K however I should tell you for that much $$$ the cover is a bit disappointing. Worse than stock atleast on the GS if you can even imagine that. However the SV cover is better than stock.

On a savage I really like the modded stock seat, just a bit more smoothening and a nice cover. That is it, simple and effective.

Cool.

Here's the Mustang seat I got, along with the stock S40 seat.  Don't have any pics on the bike yet...

I'm not a big fan of the conchos and studs, but the shape/style of that seat looks great. I hope it's as comfy as you had hoped.

To close this post out I thought I would mention, for anyone's future reference, that I just spoke with a Corbin rep on the phone. Their web site is a little confusing when it comes to upholstery choices, etc. He said the only one available is the one in the photo on the site. I was a little confused about that. I didn't particularly like it.

Shipping to Canada would cost an additional $75.00. Corbin doesn't take credit cards outside the US. They want a wire transfer or US money order. So much for an international company. Corbin Ride On - not for me.     8-)

Mustangs are made a few towns over from me in central Mass..about a year ago while I was visiting a bike shop in the area, I inquired about them..the shop owner called over as i was inquiringing into the possibility of a light brown solo saddle..was told Mustang only does black.  Hmm, wonder why they limit themselves that way.
