Title: Easiest and Safest performance enhancements?
Post by HappyHighwayman on 12/31/09 at 12:34:01

What are the easiest and least risky performance enhancements for the Savage?  I'd love to get a few extra HP out of her without sacrificing reliability or safety.

Do they make upgraded exhausts that fit the savage? I'm not looking for sound, but performance.

A Supertrapp will get you increased performance without the need to rejet.

Richer low and high speed jets makes a notable difference.

rejet k&n air filter and supertrapp, no risk at all.
Well some risk, you might develop a permanent grin.   ;D

Then a performance carb that could be worth a headache or two.
And a demonic laugh.

Then a level 1 cam will cause you to grow horns and steal candy from babes.  I don't dare tell you what a level 2 cam will do to you.   [smiley=evil.gif]

OH MAN! That smiley makes me super excited for all my mods! Cash...darnit I need cash now!

Anyway...None of the performance mods are really difficult to do as long you can take it apart and put it back together. Get a clymers manual and aquaint yourself with things of increasing difficulty over time. It does get expensive though if you don't have your own tools. And if you dont at least somewhat know what you're doing you could mess something up. I've ridden for 3 years now and I've had the savage for 2. In the time I've had the savage I've gone from doing oil changes to plans for my second top end rebuilt (this one is performance, not repair oriented) aswell as switching to cast tubeless wheels and chain drive. Its a very easy and very fun bike to mess with.
