Title: Timing chain tensioner spring
Post by Red_Wine on 12/09/09 at 04:16:38

Hello guys,

I need to know the tension for the internal spring that actuates the tensioner from inside the tensioner assembly. Does any of you know how many psi this spring must be? I understand it has to be very precise, since if it's too strong, it will wear the guide out faster, but if it's too weak, it will not adjut the tension properly and the timing chain will flapper around.

The part number (from Ron Ayers) of the tensioner assembly is 12830-24B01 for the 650-Savage. Keep in mind mine is a 400cc Savage, but I do not think the tensioner spring is different.

Thanks,

RW

Red_wine,
Are you finally getting to the point where the bike is going back together??
