I have an '06 S40 with the straight bars and have hardly any mirror vibration. I want to put the pullback bars from an older LS650 on and wonder if the mirrors vibrate on these bars. If someone that uses the pullbacks would give me some information, I would appreciate it.

I would also like to know about cable and wireing lengths. Will the same cables and wireing fit both bar types? Thanks, Dan

Haha - I don't know about other pull-back bars but on my '95.. the mirrors shake so bad at high speeds that they're pretty useless.

Lemme know if you do it and how it goes. I'll be upgrading soon and will consider doing the same bar exchange. :)

I have the standard buck horn handlebars and have very little vibrations.

If I am going slow enough to be worried about what is behind me they look fine. No idea how the view is when I am going fast enough to be more concerned with whats to look to the rear.

For some reason, my left side mirror stays alot clearer (less vibration) than the right side. I can usually at least tell if there is a vehicle behind me, but thats about it.

JCWhitney has anti-vibration inserts for mirrors. I haven't had to try them though.

Different length stalks. A longer stalk is easier to shake & they have a different frequency they vibrate at. If you ever see the right side buzzing, itll be at a lot higher RPM, I betchyaz..

I tried the JC Whitney mirror vibration piece. It didn't work. The new mirrors I had bought still vibrated on my old bike. I was trying something new, plastic, and cheap. I finally replaced just the broken one with as close a copy (metal round) as I could get. That worked. I don't know- maybe just have to pay the money for a good solid metal mirror?

Whats busted on yours? Just the reflector part or the stalk or all of it?

i've had a few combinations of mirrors and bars. My stock mirrors on buckhorns had very low vibration. after those broke, i replaced them with cheapo plastic ones on harley sportster bars and they vibrated like crazy; so bad that the glass popped out of the one and broke. I got a decent secondhand set of solid metal mirrors on ebay for like $30 and they were much better. they came with 2 sets of stems, but i use the longer ones to see over my shoulders. I am now using those mirrors back on the stock bars and the vibration is about the same, maybe less.

of all the things that affect vibrations in the mirrors, the most important is the weight of the mirror itself. Stock ones have metal inserts behind the glass. mirror length makes some difference, they have less room to bounce around. bar weights make a big difference. stock buckhorns are weighted on the ends, harley bars are not and shook my hands around more, and therefore, the mirrors as well.

so long story short, savage buckhorns with stock mirrors work pretty well. if you want less vibration, solid mirrors on short stems. :D

Both my wife's 03 with pull backs and my 90 with drag bars had/have shaky mirrors. I didn't worry about it as I don't care if I see details just as long as I see the big looming cage of steel. ;)

;D Oh shush. I always have my hands on the grips, no show boating for me. And my mirrors are not stock, the ones that came with my bike has such short stems I couldnt see around myself at all. I agree with not caring if I can see details behind me as long as I can see the "big looming cage of steel". ;)
