Title: ignition system question
Post by nicholas on 11/04/09 at 07:50:38

Hey guys
Does anyone know what kind of ignition system a 1996 savage would have? - is it a multi fire system or a single fire system like a Harley ?
I went to buy a tachometer and this was a question the shop was asking me.  I thought I would try asking the web population.
I could not find this info in my Calmer manual.
Cheers
Nik

From a previous thread, I'm pretty sure it is multi-fire, firing at TDC of the intake stroke and again at TDC of exhaust stroke.

Whether described as multi-fire or single-fire, the spark plug fires every time the magnet passes the pickup coil. Since the magnet is crankshaft mounted, the spark fires every engine revolution.

Partly correct TDC of these 2 strokes is the same place.

But who cares what part of the stroke it is, it fires at TDC every time.
