Title: seafoam
Post by smitty1 on 10/30/09 at 11:21:24

Got a seafoam question, how many tankfulls does it take till you see any results. Got a 16oz can should be 8 tankfuls. Also anyone have any problems with seafoam and sta-bil?, as the ridding season just about over here in NY.

One tank normally would do, With seafoam you don't need sta-bil, Use seafoam for your winter storage.Iv'e never heard a problem with either of them.

+1 on one tank for a carb with build-up.

I run a tank through once and a while even though I don't have problems. On my MC I would not think I would get much build-up, but on engines where the machine sits without running a lot (garden tiller for example), Seafoam really makes each start-up easy. Couple of pulls on the starter (it's a really old tiller) and it fires right up after sitting for most of the year.

Smitty -

If there is a small airport near you, try to get a 5 gallon can of airplane gas - it's called 100LL ( for low lead).

Airplane gas is formulated to remain stable for at least a year.  I put it in my bike each fall, ride for a few miles to get it thru everything, then fill the tank to the brim and let it sit over the winter.  In the spring, it starts up like a champ with no varnish, or other crud to deal with.

What is "Winter Storage?"  If you ride every day, doesn't that become a hassle?

most of my family lives in jersey, and some of my friends in nebraska tell me how cold it's getting now....i don't think i would want to be there let alone in the wind of it!! Lol

and even if u start a bike for a while without riding her around u can still clog the upper jets, yes?

I ride year round here in central Illinois, so winter storage isn't a problem for my MC, but my wife's only gets out about once a month in the cold weather, so a seafoam seems to help it starting.

Seafoam's the bomb...best $9.00 you'll spend on regular/preventative maintenance for your carb.

8-)
