Title: Savage Tachometer Post by nicholas on 10/30/09 at 08:29:38 Hi again I have been searching for a tach for my savage 1996 for weeks now - and so far have been unsuccessful- even the dealerships can not seem to find one for a single cylinder. Does anyone have one and if so where did they get it - I am also in Canada where parts can be hard to come by. thanks nik |

Title: Re: Savage Tachometer Post by nicka on 10/30/09 at 09:50:57 I think it has a twin cylinder ignition system, so one of these would work. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUZUKI-SAVAGE-LS650-S40-CHROME-TACH-TACHOMETER-ON-SALE_W0QQitemZ150380217930QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20091014?IMSfp=TL0910141610003r21960 |
Title: Re: Savage Tachometer Post by serenity3743 on 10/30/09 at 10:31:57 I believe it has been established that the Savage/S40 spark plug fires on every revolution, on the TDC of the intake stroke and of the exhaust stroke. Most singles would fire once every other rev, only on the TDC of the intake stroke. I think that means an unmodified tach would show 2x the actual rpms on our bike. Some tachs can probably be programmed to compensate. |

Was about 1/2 an hour to install. Took longer to take the tank off then wire it up! Have had it on for about 9 months with no problems. |

Title: Re: Savage Tachometer Post by Gort on 10/31/09 at 15:09:53 Don't buy from this guy...he is a scam artist and other members have complained about him. Look at his customer rating...it stinks. 31 complaints in 1 year...thats really bad for Ebay. |
Title: Re: Savage Tachometer Post by T Mack 1 - FSO on 10/31/09 at 18:38:43 I have a listing in the tech - ref section of tachs that are known to work. And, the dealers most likely can get one of them for you. I really liked my Drag Specialties tach. I think they are somewhere around $75. http://www.users.fast.net/~tommack/sm-New_tach-oil_press.JPG |
