These Hyper-Lites are expensive ( $73.95 ) but I believe that might keep you from getting rear ended. There are 16 LED lights and they only draw 1/4 amp. They are really bright when they flash.

I have them mounted on top the license plate light. I took the pictures in the day time and they are brighter than it shows in the picture.

Now if I could just figure out a way to get the dimwits off the cell phones about 300 yards behind me they just might notice them flashing.
