Title: Loose, missing nuts & bolts Post by mumbles on 10/12/09 at 07:02:13 Since getting the Savage 2 weeks ago we have been finding a few bolts missing. The header was only held by one bolt. The front seat was missing the 2 bolts that hold it in place. The turn signal screws were loose. Mirrors were also loose. Left side footpeg bolt missing. Also right side cover and tool box missing. The lady we bought the Savage from said that her 17 year old son had been riding the bike back and forth to school. Does the bike tend to loose these parts or could it have been carelessness? Been applying loctite to every bolt thats been replaced. |

People can take things apart for weekend projects, and not take much care putting things back in order. Mine was much like this. I spent about 3 weekends going over it bolt by bolt, and screw by screw...WELL worth the time I put it. After finding the first few missing things, I got VERY nervous taking it out on the road. When someone puts that little of care in, safety takes a backseat...not a great recipe when only about 10-15 square inches of rubber is making contact with the road :) |

The seller is stainless-cycle or something like that. Also, a developing rule of thumb for the Savage: "That which is not given anti-seize should be threadlocked." |

I have one that will let me hang the helmet on the front & it wont be upside down, just waiting on some jasshonkey to pee in. |
