Title: Best Way to use Sea Foam
Post by easywriter on 09/25/09 at 11:06:03

I've seen a lot of posts saying Sea Foam is an awesome product. Since my newly acquired 03 Savage has been sitting for over a year, I plan on using it. I just drained out the old gas (which my neighbor poured into his old van), but it still runs rough at idle.

What's the best way to use this product on my bike? Do I pour the whole thing into the gas tank? What do you recommend? Thanks!

usually just pour an ounce or 2 in the tank will keep the carb nice and clean.

but for something that's been sitting... drain carb and refill with seafoam. let sit overnite, drain and pour it into the tank.  the engine won't run on that stuff alone.

What do you mean by draining carb and refilling it? Do I have to remove it to do this? Also how much Sea Form should I use? Just enough to fill it?

Put it in the gas and if you want to take off fuel bowl and put and ounce in it put it back on and run motor for about 15 seconds and let it sit over night

My carb has a drain at the bottom. I can drain out the gas in the "bowl" then put it on prime or run it to refill carb with treated gas.  Boofer

I'm planning to take off the fuel bowl and put an ounce of Sea Foam in it (in addition to treating the gas tank). Removing the four screws looks easy, but do I need a new gasket for the fuel bowl when I take it off? Or have most of you found that the old gasket still work? Thanks again!

Wally world sells a "mix master" syringe.
just suck up in ounce and inject it in the fill hose.
drain the bowl 1st.
prime to refill.

no you don't need to replace the gasket.

I picked up the Mix Mizer syringe and plan to inject an ounce of Sea Foam in the fill hose, then I will start the engine for about 15 seconds.

But I still don't understand why I have to drain the float bowl. Wouldn't the carb simply use that gas when I start the engine and then get more from the fill hose? (In that case, I would run it longer than 15 seconds).

Thanks again!

Also, my float bowl has a drain on it. It works! After draining it, I took the hose to tank off and squirted some Sea Foam in there. After I let it sit overnight, do I just drain the Sea Foam?

After I let it sit overnight, I guess I will drain the Sea Foam into a bottle and dump it into the gas tank.

No I think you leave the Sea Foam in is best You can have a ounce of Sea Foam in the bowl and the motor will still run

Update: I left the Sea Foam in the float bowl overnight. Early this morning, I started up the Savage, and it seemed like it purred! I shut it down after a few seconds thinking the Sea Foam is now moved into a different area where it will do some more good. After work, I will probably drive it to the gas station, fill it up, and then dump a couple of ounces into the tank.

Now I'm thinking about putting some in my other bike. Good stuff!!!
