Title: high noise/rpms
Post by danroot on 09/16/09 at 15:26:15

ok, so my bike is making some louder than usual noise and seems to be reaching higher rpms at lower speeds. what should i be looking out for?

The only way RPM can increase at any given speed in any given gear is for either the rear tire to change diameter or the clutch start slipping.
Have you changed oil type? Does the clutch lever have any slack in it?

Is it possible you are hearing a higher frequency engine noise & interpreting that as Higher RPM? Maybe its clackety valves?

it just seems to be working harder at lower speed, like, the vibration and noise that i normally feel at 60mph is felt at 40mph.

Check your header bolts. If you removed the header when you installed the supertrapp the bolts might have worked loose.

Tighten the peg bolts.

check that your wheels are turning free... not dragging brakes or bad wheel bearings.

I think the most common probl;em that creates that situation is the cross bolts thru the engine( peg bolts) need torqued. You had to drop the peg to do the cam chain & the exhaust.

when this happened to me my brakes properly locked up on me  not nice  there was a tiny hole on the master cylinder that was blocked  there fine now  its obvious if this is your problem though
