Title: selling questions
Post by wrd17 on 09/12/09 at 12:01:01

i have an '01 savage that i have on ebay right now.  it has 13,800 miles on it.  new carb, windshield, paint, saddlebags, forward controls.  it has been garage kept.
if i am unsuccessful selling it on ebay what would be a fair price to sell it locally for? thanks

I am 70 miles south of you in Ms. I bought '01 from Tupelo, Ms in March. Shines like new money. Small dent on top front of tank, Spitfire windshield, Suzuki bags, 7400 miles. $1850 delivered to me. The $50 was for delivery.  Around here, I would say $1800 to $2200.
Hope this helps.

Cycle trader has about 6x91 ls 650's ranging from 1900 to 2800. The paint job on the tank, while many will like it, is not stock..usually reducing value.  13K miles geting close to engine belt replacement time (if the shopper has researched the Savage).  Tires you report are not super..deduct about $200.  Sorry but i'm thinking around $1300.  Your opening bid seems a little optomistic but best of luck.  Of course regional availablility might work in your favor..you should also check out local craig's list to see the competition.

Also keep in mind its getting toward the end of the season. Less demand = lower price.

Smart, patient, frugal types time their purchases on seasonal items. Snow Skis in the summer, bikes in the winter. Sellers suffer. You may be ahead to wait & sell in the spring.

1st try Kellybluebookmotorcycles and the NADA websites to get an idea of what your bike might be worth. Then try craigslist.com its free, but be weary of the scammers. As long as you stick to locals and cash you should be fine. You can resubmit every few days or weekly on craigslist. Good luck

Actually a bit of horse trading. Bought an AK-47 for a hundred bucks, spent another hundred on a new stock for it, traded that for an AR-15, then thanks to the post election gun craziness traded that for a 1994 fishing boat which then got traded for the S40. Got lucky

Sold my '01 for $1850 in August on the local Craigslist.   It was in real good shape.
