Title: EBC Brake Pads
Post by PTRider on 08/31/09 at 22:33:39

I installed EBC brake pads, model FA106.  These are organic Kevlar compound.

"Organic pads are made with man made fibres such as Kevlar or Twaron bonded together with a petrochemical resin.  Organic pads have attracted many enthusiasts because of the way they work. They are inherently “Softer” easier on rotors and have a brake “feel” preferred by many riders.   Made with Dupont Kevlar fibre base this material have sold over 18 million sets alone since adopted. It is surely one of the best selling Motorcycle brake materials ever made and has passed every known standard test time and time again. It has been rated by top German consumer Magazine Motorrad as a compound that outperformed all compared organic pads in friction level tested. DMX compound is TUV tested and approved and is the first ever material to pass the European ECE R90 brake safety test where it was tested alongside sintered metal pads. With a GG rated friction rating, technically this material has a lower rating for brake power over sintered pads but on the machine, which is where it counts, this materials impresses."

Anyway, no more squeak.  These EBC pads require slightly more lever effort for the same stopping force, but not excessive effort.  The braking is very smooth and proportional to the lever force.  I like them.

+1 on the EBC pads. I don't know what the stock pads were (the kind with little chunks of brass or something in them) but they squealed so bad I'd just use the rear drum.  The EBC pads seem just as effective as the OEM squealers.

+2, I put some on a couple months ago (very easy with the guide on here!) and I love not having to listen to the squeal anymore! :P

I liked the EBC's but you really have to be aware that it takes quite abit more effort to brake than stockers.
For more of a stock feel w/o the squeel, bendix pads were good.

+4

I had only a couple hundred miles on my bike before I switched over. Listening to the stock ones was horrible.

These arent the EBC red pads are they? I get most of my things from biekbandit and all they had the last time was EBC organic this or that. The pads were/are red. They lasted for no time at all. Mine were on the verge of COMPLETELY gone when I just happened to check for the sake of it. I was shocked and disappointed to be overdue for new pads at about 2500mi. I decided to bypass the net at that point and went to the closest dealership. All they had were the same EBC reds and they havent lasted much longer. I wont be buying them again if i can help it. Im going for EBC "carbon X" this time.

If I remember right, mine were black, nothing fancy.  Definitely not red though.

Which bendix pads did you use? Happen to have a part number?

My EBC's are red; work great, but I use both brakes when I stop. They've lasted 4k miles so far.

I like the EBC red pads, but they really took a lot of getting used to. They require more force on the lever to stop, and that got me worried a time or two when riding two-up.

Overall I like the performance, but I'd be willing to try the Bendix, if they didn't squeal like the stock pads.

Verslagen- Got a part number? We're all curious

Just ordered some new EBC pads that will be here tomorrow along with the new tires  ;D Finally I'll feel a bit more comfortable riding around. These original IRC tires with 5600mi are coming off. (Front is dry rotted and rear could pass as a racing slick  :o )

I've had EBC pads front and back now for a few thousand miles and am very happy with them, much better than stock.

I use EBCs on all my bikes. The Kevlar is for road bikes. EBC makes at least 4 different pad materials. When you get the right one, keep the package to assist you in you choice next time.
