Title: Rear tire availability Post by Rainy on 08/29/09 at 14:15:08 Hi All, In searching for a rear tire, I find only Metzeler and Dunlop are making the 140-80x15 for the rear of the Savage. What are you all using for tires. Anyone know of a car tire that fits? Thanks, Rainy. |

Beg to differ with you Bill, MMRanch has a car tire on his Savage, seems to do quite well, He had no trouble on the dragon in June http://p1.bikepics.com/pics/2009%5C08%5C29%5Cbikepics-1767444-800.jpg |
Title: Re: Rear tire availability Post by FreeSpirit on 08/29/09 at 16:17:08 What are the reasons why someone would use a car tire on a motorcycle? I'm just curious. |
Title: Re: Rear tire availability Post by bill67 on 08/29/09 at 16:33:06 Their cheaper and get better mileage, then some like the looks too. |
Title: Re: Rear tire availability Post by Oldfeller on 08/29/09 at 16:51:42 They last 20,000 miles, get good traction and cost less than half what a premium bike tire (that won't last nearly as long as the car tire) would cost. |
Title: Re: Rear tire availability Post by FreeSpirit on 08/29/09 at 16:55:27 I did kinda like the looks of it.And I figured it must be cheaper....Just because its not made for a motorcycle. People basically get more money for motorcycle stuff just because they can ::) (I thought I'd learn something with that question...that info was good to know ;) |
Title: Re: Rear tire availability Post by FreeSpirit on 08/29/09 at 17:03:25 Another question....what Brand and size is the one on MMRanch's bike? or what brand of car tire is good for a motorcycle? and size,do they come in the same size we normally use? Or is that info in the above link? |
