Just finished putting a edelbrock quicksilver on the '8802. rough tune, supertrapp tuned with 6 disks for the '88 carb, k&n filter, jury rigged intake connector to air box... going up my WOT hill... previously the '96 did 87best... the '8802 did 82... drum roll please... 97 :o and I paused in the middle of the hill to pass a car. I rolled on from the bottom of the hill from 70. I backed off from 95 to pass the car down to 85. 8-) Lancer, you sob, what have you done? |

Daisy but looks wild ! (remember? It's the one with a front wheel off a Cagiva Mito, the 125cc version of MV Agusta) 8-) |

Title: Re: Beware this man Post by LANCER on 08/25/09 at 07:52:39 Oh man, I invite Slavy to come out to SC & ride the Dragon but then my bikes don't work. OK, pay back time; Slavy finds a photo of me that ... well, it's not exactly my best image. Yea, ok, well what are friends for ? ? ;D The bike photo is of REX which was supposed to make the Dragon ride but had last minute issues with oil loss. I have since replaced the valve stem seals and the head is back on, but still need to install high lift cam/chain, etc. I am trying to get it back together this week but with kitchen makeover work and prep for our 35th anniversary trip coming up next week, time is at a premium. I decided to not put the big piston in it right now ... short on $$ fun stuff, but will just hold it until I can save up my penny's for Bore-tech's fine work. The engine ran very will before but since then the exhaust ports have been reworked, 0.040" shaved from head/cyl which should yield almost point higher compression, and replaced standard Performance Camshaft with the higher lift version. I have 3 carbs to work with. Older model 38mm Edelbrock which is seen in the photo; new 38mm Edelbrock with acc. pump, and a 38mm Mikuni with UFO with closed pilot jet, the new version of the Dial-a-jet with bar mount dial selector, and ... ah ... something else but my brain has gone blank for now. Anyway, plenty of carbs on hand to play with. The photo shows the carb mounted on a 90 deg. elbow but I plan to replace that with a 45 deg mount if it will clear the frame, in order to get a straighter shot into the intake. I also have a 6" velocity stack, and several filters for the carbs. Some fit here & others there. After I get a decent road tune on the carbs I hope to get some dyno time at 76 Cycle, owned by John who works on older model HD's. He is one of the good guys from the HD world, and is interested in what I'm doing with REX. Anyway, I would like to get dyno runs with each of the carbs, get them fine tuned if needed, and compare those dyno numbers with what I get from the Veypor program. |

Battery not shown in this photo ... look closely and you will see one of the battery cables behind engine; battery is mounted to frame rails behind engine and under seat with bungy chords/brackets above and below. |
Title: Re: Beware this man Post by verslagen1 on 08/25/09 at 08:47:26 I got the oil temp gage hooked up last night. It's a cheapo HF special, so I wasn't completely surprised it didn't work. But to my surprised when I came to a stop and the needle stopped bouncing that read 190°F. Which matches what I read last night with the IR handheld temp gage. So any ideas on a home made needle damper? |
Title: Re: Beware this man Post by Duane on 08/25/09 at 11:46:02 I like that tank, what is the capacity? Would it fit if the seat was not lifted? |

The neighbors were quite happy with this "oil loss" as after we shut if off, the forest was deathly silent. Seem the cloud we let off cleared the forrest of many a flying creature. ;D |

3.3 gal Mounting this tank required cutting and welding on the top frame rail. Center rail extended back to welded end plate on back of frame. Side support rails cut, shortened and rewelded farther back down center rail. The rest of the frame is the same; no change in engine or fork mounting, etc. http://images2.snapfish.com/232323232%7Ffp53239%3Enu%3D323%3A%3E639%3E697%3EWSNRCG%3D3236%3B89%3A52424nu0mrj http://images2.snapfish.com/232323232%7Ffp5323%3A%3Enu%3D323%3A%3E639%3E697%3EWSNRCG%3D3236%3B89%3A56%3B34nu0mrj |
Title: Re: Beware this man Post by Rogue_Cheddar on 08/25/09 at 18:37:02 Hey Lancer! That is one badass rat! I love it! I have a question or two about the bandana pic. Why do you have a blue lanyard tied to your nipples? And is that what makes you sweaty? :D |
