Title: idle speed Post by rl153 on 08/23/09 at 05:21:01 How do you increase your idle speed ? |
Title: Re: idle speed Post by justin_o_guy2 on 08/23/09 at 05:24:22 Theres a knurled headed screw near the choke. Screw in to raise RPM. Make sure its high enough, at all times, to keep good oil flow to the head. I have to raise mine a bit when I ride away, then lower it once its warmed up all the way. Not a lot, but to keep a steady idle, yea. |
Title: Re: idle speed Post by rl153 on 08/23/09 at 09:18:22 Great,Thanks! What RPM should the bike idle at ,and is it tricky to hook up a tach? Thanks |
Title: Re: idle speed Post by PTRider on 08/23/09 at 10:29:58 The book says 1000 to 1200 rpm. http://enmco.thomasnet.com/viewitems/enm-counting-instruments-tach-hour-meters/tach-hour-meters-pt15-tachometer?&forward=1 $30~$35. Two wires, one wrapped around the spark plug wire, the other to ground. |
Title: Re: idle speed Post by rl153 on 08/23/09 at 13:31:00 I'm going to buy that tach .Just what I need.Is this tach one you attach to the handlebar permanently or just for diagnostic.? Thanks |
Title: Re: idle speed Post by marine5317 on 08/23/09 at 16:46:33 Go online to Onida Suzuki and look at Drag Specialties #DS244133. This is the black face tach and their prices are the best around. I've had mine on over a year now. Ride Safe Marine5317 |

I just use mine diagnostically. I leave the wire in place and hook up the tach only when I think I need to adjust the idle. I suppose you could mount it somewhere permanently, but the update rate on the tach is pretty slow for operational usage, IMO. |
Title: Re: idle speed Post by rl153 on 08/24/09 at 08:52:07 Can you access the spark plug wire without taking the tank off ,to attach the tach induction wire ? |

Sort of. I did not have to take the tank all the way off. I just propped up the front of it enough to get access to the spark plug wire. |
