Title: wiring the ignition timer Post by Bobbert on 08/21/09 at 15:33:00 The wires from the left crank case cover broke due to fatigue. I've got to solder the wires back together, however the two wires coming from the ignition timer have lost all sign of color. Can someone take a look at theirs and see where the wires go? Thanks, I really appreciate the help! |

Title: Re: wiring the ignition timer Post by Bobbert on 08/23/09 at 01:06:12 Im talking about the LEFT cover, the generator cover, that has five wires going through a rubber boot. the generator coil has three wires (yellow) that go to the rectifier. the ignition timer (inside the cover, its a little black unit) has two wires (green, orange) that go into the Ignition control box. this is the unit that measures crankshaft speed and times the spark all 5 wires broke. I can figure out the generator coils easily because they're all the same, but the ignition timer/hall sensor probably has to wired in the right direction. |
Title: Re: wiring the ignition timer Post by thumperclone on 08/23/09 at 05:09:04 thats the pick up coil on the magneto( mag has the 3 Y) G and O are tied to the ignitor,G in the 4th spot O in the 5th..coil shouldnt matter which is which, the way the diagram is drawn with the 3 Y on top the pick up coil is on the left side , O on the top of the coil and G on the bottom Good Luck! |
