how can the gear shifter be adjusted?  the brake pedal is easy (and more comfortable now!)

  Yep there is 2 nuts on there one turns one way the other the other way,You can let it out or pull it in.

Most everything can be adjusted.   ;)

There is a linkage rod that goes from the pedal to where it shifts at the side of the case.  There are a couple of nuts that lock the rod in place, so back those off, turn the rod until you get the pedal where you want it and tighten the nuts back.
