Title: What a difference a new coil makes...
Post by Yonuh Adisi on 08/16/09 at 13:36:18

I was having trouble with the FireLizard, after running it long enough to warm up, it was lose fire and die on me until I let it coil down for a couple of hours.

Well, I just replaced the coil, and dang, what a difference it made. My coil must have been going out for a while, because I always had to crank on it a bit before it would fire up and run, but now, I can just barely hit the starter button and it roars to life. I just took it for a good 30 minute ride to test it, and no problems. So, it was most definitely the coil that was giving me my problems.

Do you run a regular spark plug or a iridium?

I had the same problem though i found that my rectifier was not performing like it should so just throwing that out there, you might just give it a check, if your not running at peak voltage then your not getting a good fire either! What was happening is my battery would slowly lose charge to the point where it would not start, but i could keep the bike running at a high idle when i came to a stop. I had to charge the battery each night. but once the bikes voltage drops below 12v its gonna die. Im no expert but thats what was wrong with mine, 1996 savage.
