This Chevy 305 V/8 piston and me !

I will "try" and see if I can get it to work, its just a little bit bigger in dia.... thats good as I can get a freash bore. It has the same wrist pin dia.... and the comp hight is more. Thats ok as the stock piston sits low in the bore anyways, BUT this Chevy piston has alot of comp hight, I may try and make a Alum base gasket shim to rase the jug up a little, the piston is thick, so I may be able to trim some off the top.

I will find out, not resting in front of the TV eating chips all day is NOT my thing, I am rebuilding this motor anyways so why not try a few things on it, this is my hobby right.

If this Trike was to be my only way around I would not mess with it, but its my toy, my hobby.

Next in order is the cam chain deal... stay tuned for that one boys and girls this one my just be an award winner !

Its not one yet, it will be.

As for the Chevy piston..... the comp hight "wrist pin to top of piston" is just way to much for me to deal with.
Piston dia is ok.... wrist pin workable, its just to darn tall. :'(
Owh well it was only $13... I'll use it for something...

As for the stock piston,, I'll be decking and milling things to bump the comp up some....  ;)

Hey ya dont know until you try right !

I wondered if that might be the "connection".  I seem to remember an old biker once telling me that the Chevy 235 inline 6 pistons would fit right into one of the old school bikes (can't remember which).  I talked to a guy that raced lawnmowers, and he mentioned something about swapping in an automotive piston too.  There's quite possibly one out there that will work in our bikes, but I have nowhere near the knowledge to hazard a guess. :-/

I belive Chevy owned Suzuki for a while. My bike and my wifes Pontiac Grand Am are the same year and same funky green color. I think GM sold off Suzuki before the Gov. took it over, but I could be wrong.

P.S. the year of the bike and car are 2003.

Mike, you seem to have the same bug as me. I am always trying to do with less or with something unintended for the purpose. I am also never satisfied unless I have modified or changed something. Please keep us upto date on any of your mods, I for one enjoy learning from such endeavors. Gene

I'm always fascinated by the things people make/come up with. I love to try out new things. I can't wait to get a place with a real garage so I can actually do some work. I guess having a few power tools would help. I own nothing but a dremel lol.

I really think we need to come up with a new design for a battery box. one that is more for bobber/choppers. It would need to be able to be moved back a little bit. I would even be o.k with it bolting in from the bottom. I HATE my stock battery box, it is horrid.

Mine is going behind and below the stock swingarm pivot location... ::)

Now I was wanting to make a set of forward controls "WITH" battery box ! So the battery would be between your feet up front.. with a nice cover and new leads.... but I need a stock bike here in my shop for that..
DimondJim was going to bring his bike over for just that AND for a carry rack... but thats the time he vanished !

The Savage's totally flat piston, small cam, nice 4 valve combustion chamber.

It all sounds like the perfect motor to try what I've been wanting to try for a while now.... so I'm doing all the mods needed for a really tight piston to head fit and will do a good heavy groove on both the quench flats....

We'll see how she runs with it someday... ::)
