Title: Supertrapp with stock jetting?
Post by Midnightrider on 08/09/09 at 10:47:39

I have an 03 Savage I'm working on and cleaning up. Thinking about a Supertrapp. I've removed the plug over the idle jet and richened it up but other than that I've changed nothing on the carb. Has anyone ever run a Supertrapp with stock jetting?

You can run a supertrapp with any jetting, it's tunable. You can have maybe 6 to 8 disks and it will be as restrictive as your stock muffler. You can add disc's and open it up as much as you want.

Changing the jetting is easier than changing the muffler.  Do both.

The supertrapp is tunable, it comes with 6 to 8 disks, one or the other works great with the stock carb.

It comes with 8. Each accessory pack has 6. Mine has 14 in it. You could get the Trapp on & ride till you are ready to jet, then get an accessory pack, or, avoid additional shipping & get it with the Trapp & use it when ready.
Dont be stingy on the never seize.

You shouldn't have to rejet if you use 6 or less disks, depending on your location. I live in Missouri and am running 6 disks and haven't had to rejet my carb. If you get a supertrapp, make sure that you clean it well before running your bike. I didn't clean mine good enough and it blued on me.

12Bravo thanks for the cleaning tip. Just ordered a Supertrapp. JCMotors has them on sale for $270.

Quote:
Exhaust systems can turn blue.... Most any pipe can and will. And there is only one culprit…EXCESSIVE HEAT!! If your bike is mis-timed….too much heat. Run lean? More heat. Run out of gas? (more air than gas)…heat again! In these instances, more air than fuel will result. And with the induction of more air, temperatures can flair as much as 200 degrees instantly; thus frying the pipes.
