Title: Idle Mixture screw
Post by jsw1159 on 08/05/09 at 15:07:41

I had drilled out the brass plug and set my carb after re-jet but now my mixture screw wants to back out after riding for awhile. Is there anything I can use to keep this from happening or just keep adjusting? Anyone have any suggestions

If it's more than 3 turns out, you should go up to the next jet size.

And if it's more than 3 turns out, it's likely to back out on its own.

I,m only 2 turns out on the screw, but when i ride it ends up back out to 3, 31/2 turns and starts to run bad until i re-adjust

If you lost yours, dont panic, try swiping one out of a pen. I havent tried it, may not be wide enough, but Id go look that way if I was in trouble

If there suppose to be a spring or o-ring then it should be in there because i never took the screw completely out and it was new and stock when i bought the bike.

The adjusting screw should have a spring, tiny washer, and o-ring.  If you are not careful when removing the screw, one or all of those parts can drop off and hide forever from you.  Also, if you are missing one or more of them, check inside the hole for the screw; the o-ring especially can easily get lodged down inside there and if you do not notice it being missing, then when you insert the screw back in the hole and screw it down, the o-ring gets mangles all to pieces.   :(
