Title: Re: Secret Project Post by savagedml on 07/27/09 at 19:42:13 I've got those same foot pegs and I really like them. That's a really cool mesh cover. Thanks for the pics. |

Title: Re: Secret Project Post by justin_o_guy2 on 07/28/09 at 01:25:03 I like the pegs & might have to get some of that. The mesh is a classy step. |

I found the aluminum mesh at Pep boys. Seems it is the only place that still carries it in store. Cost was $40 for a sheet 6" x 4' I believe. The mesh is regular aluminum, no color, I painted it with several coats of primer then gloss black. I cut slightly smaller than the opening and then used black door edging to wrap the out side edges of the metal. The rubber helps to hold it in place and adds a finished look. I have also used the edging on the fenders of her bike, it will help protect the edges from chips. |

JC Whitney: http://www.jcwhitney.com/FOOT-PEGS-WITH-STIRRUP-HEEL-REST/GP_2002594_N_111+2002+200730528+600014701_10111.jcw Pretty easy to install. You have to drill them out a little to fit the bolt from the stock peg. The drill bit required is 27/64" (found at Lowes). The bolt is covered by a plastic chrome plated cap that you pop off with a flat head screw driver. I used a 1/8" rubber washer to add some additional stability, they fit snugg and are comfortable. |
Title: Re: Secret Project Post by TJ9000 on 07/28/09 at 09:12:35 Will the foot pegs fit any other models? A '95 for instance? |

What I have learned is that the chassis of this bike has not really changed for nearly 20 years. Some small things, but not much else. Please, can someone else chime in here. I would say they would fit. |
Title: Re: Secret Project Post by Rogue_Cheddar on 07/28/09 at 09:56:53 Yeah , it should fit. I have a '95 and took a stock Harley O-ring footpeg and drilled it out using 27/64 drill bit. Fits fine. Just beware that the upward travel of the peg is limited if your into scraping them. |

I noticed that also. There is some room for give but not much. Could prove hazardous if you stick one but the stock pegs are the same, not much play. |
Title: Re: Secret Project Post by pdbigt357 on 07/28/09 at 18:27:51 Here are some more pictures. Bars and grips installed. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w220/DirtyT357/1248829705.jpg Bars and grips http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w220/DirtyT357/1248829678.jpg Bars and grips again. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w220/DirtyT357/1248829542.jpg Seats, had these reshaped and wrapped. It is simulated leather but is top quality, like what is used in luxury cars. Almost as expensive because of the durability. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w220/DirtyT357/1248829568.jpg Side View http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w220/DirtyT357/1248829777.jpg Pegs, the pegs are very comfortable, take a little adjusting to get them just right, but once they are in a position the fits your build, they fell awesome. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w220/DirtyT357/1248829605.jpg Good shot of Intake. Let me know what you think. The new bars and grips really make a difference in the ride. |
Title: Re: Secret Project Post by PerrydaSavage on 07/29/09 at 01:53:58 Nice job! Those look like Sportster bars? Once Rode an '86 LS fitted with Sportster Bars on the stock Savage buckhorn bar clamps (the low clamps, not the pull-back risers) and I loved the improvement in handling over the stock bar set-up ... |

Thanks. The bars are from JC Whitney, they are called the Superbar. They are slightly wider than the stock bars but the real difference is the position. They feel great. |
Title: Re: Secret Project Post by justin_o_guy2 on 07/29/09 at 07:49:05 All that good lookin work & no fork brace? Duuude, you gotta get a brace on that thing. |

Fork Brace????? Help a brotha out! |
Title: Re: Secret Project Post by justin_o_guy2 on 07/29/09 at 19:41:13 Yea, a fork brace. Superbrace is a cleaner look, more streamlined & the T-Kat is more macho looking. It is only available when T-Kat has enough orders to justify making a machining run. It will make a big difference in the handling. Even if you arent a peg scraper, it will make it feel more sure footed. |
Title: Re: Secret Project Post by ODSavage on 08/10/09 at 09:50:01 Would the pegs in the following link fit the Savage with the addition of drilling out a larger hole? If not what type of pegs would I be looking for? Thanks in advance. http://www.jcwhitney.com/O-RING-KICK-PEDALS/GP_2002595_N_111+2002+200730528+600014701_10111.jcw |
Title: Re: Secret Project Post by Rogue_Cheddar on 08/10/09 at 18:47:22 Those pegs will work fine. Just need to be drilled. I have the round O-ring pegs on mine. I bought mine at a Harley dealership for just over $20. I also bought some extended length pegs for the passenger. It's an easy mod. On the passenger pegs I added some thin nylon bushings on either side so that it was tight enough for the peg to stay upright when riding with no passenger. |
