Title: cam ? ?
Post by tfrawg75 on 07/23/09 at 14:04:55

I have my motor apart to do cam chain and fix oil leaks on cylinder. My question is I've got motor on TDC what position should I put cam in? Do i line up marks on cam with head like is says in clymer's ? Or is there a better way?

Yes, line up the cam marks like the Clymers says.

With cam chain on the forward side taunt, the marks on the cam shaft should be horizontal and the pin at 1 o'clock.  If not perfectly horizontal they should be up on the taunt side.

not sure where the pin was but it fired up this time so that is better than the first time I put it together  guess it moved from TDC  I'm takin break now before puttin it all back together.

I haven't done it yet, (cam chain on the way!!!), but I am also planning on using this video and instruction guide as a reference...
