Title: sportster seat question
Post by tldk1678 on 07/12/09 at 20:34:02

I have a 2003 Savage and would like to put a sportster seat on it for comfort.

I see a lot of sportster seats on e-bay and I need to know which seat will fit my bike the best.

I have a sissy bar and luggage rack and would like to keep them.

Any ideas?

I didn't have any problem finding one when I bought a couple of years ago.

I just picked one that looked like the ones in the sportster seat mod thread

although I hear there's a long tank version and a short tank version

Would I need the short tank version?

I see lots of sportster seats on e-bay, I just want to make sure that I get the right one.

Thanks again.

This is a good question. If you do it and get it installed show us some pictures. I see for you 240 guys they sell a gel seat replacement from Suzuki. I don't know if it would fit my old LS650. It been my exsperience what with enough time money and patience you can put any seat you want on it.

I think I ended up with an 04 sporty seat. The pan under the seat is flat and it doesn't want to sit down low enough onto our frame. I helped this by cutting out two egg sized pieces of the pan so that it sat down on the frame better. Then when I switched tanks the seat was too long cause the new tank was bigger. I pealed back the leather and cut off an inch or so of the front of the pan and restapled the pad and leather back on. My point is, if your not afraid to work on it you can make it fit and fit well. You'll need to fab a mounting bracket and figure out the rear mount. I bent the screw down tab on back of sporty seat so that it goes under the mounting location welded to out rear fender.

About how much difference in the curve of s40 seat and sportster seat Are you talking 2 to 3 inches.I really like an aftermarket sportster seat but its $300 if it would work I would buy it.

A little wait and Corbin will have a seat made for our bikes. I put thousands of dollars into fixing both of our bikes and the 1500 mile trip. (I'll take donations to cover the costs of it  ;D)

I only hope they make the same seats as the C90: a cruiser, a single, a rumble, and a gunfighter.

From what they said it'll be around 60 days or so until they get our bikes into production. But they have a 2001 LS650 and a 2005 S40 in their factory right now.

Do you have any idea how wide they will make it?
