Title: Two In A Row Post by SavageDanny on 07/02/09 at 05:31:17 Been having a small electrical issue this week. I have a short somewhere but I am having trouble locating it. The bike starts and runs fine. But, twice in two days I have had it quit while riding. Both times while slowing down for a stop or turn. It doesn't happen at every turn or stop I come to though. I usually down shift through the gears as I slow down. Both times it quit as I hit second gear. After replacing the fuse it will run fine again. The fuse that blows is the one marked relay in the cover. Last night I removed the seats and tank to search for it. I didn't find anything too obvious. Didn't see any bare wires touching each other or the frame. I plan to remove the battery box tonight and search behind there. Anyone got any ideas or thoughts on this? |

Title: Re: Two In A Row Post by SavageDanny on 07/02/09 at 09:57:54 I see three relays on the wiring diagram: Side Stand Relay Turn Signal Relay Starter Relay (recently replaced) Which one do you speak of? or, is there another one I am not seeing? |

Title: Re: Two In A Row Post by justin_o_guy2 on 07/03/09 at 06:43:59 Finding an intermittent problem is such a hassle. I hate electrical gremlins worse than any, to start with, then, make it a "sometimes" thing? No thanks. I wish I could be of some assistance, all I can do is wish you well. My 05 had a strange issue for a while, developed after about 7,000 miles. It would be running along fine & just lose power to the ignition, it seemed. It would flame out, starter wouldnt work. I dunno why it stopped doing that, maybe it was the connector by the tank, IDK, but it hasnt shafted me in a long time. One thing I would consider trying would be hitting the brakes hard & seeing if it blows the fuse. If so, strip the bike down & with power on, start moving things that could move when the brakes get hit & see what has to move to pop the fuse? |
Title: Re: Two In A Row Post by T Mack 1 on 07/03/09 at 08:11:10 Coming to a stop makes the front end dip a little. We have had some people have problems at where the wires go into the headlight bucket. I would start there. Like Justin said, jiggle the wires and see if the fuse blows. |
