Title: How Can I Tell if Plastic Washers are ABS? Post by Digger on 06/28/09 at 20:49:39 I'd like to pick up some ABS plastic washers to do a repair on my Gold Wing's rear fender mounting tabs. How can I tell if any of the plastic washers I see at the hardware store are made of ABS plastic, vice some other type of plastic? TIA! |

If you can't tell right away,... bite your Gold Wing's rear fender... ;D ;D ;D Kidding,... I don't really know,... but ABS tends to be less pliable and more brittle. Takes paint better. Digging a fingernail in it might give a clue,... soft is PVC or teflon, firm is ABS,...or ask the dude that works there, (he'll make a guess) 50/50 shot at best... Why does it need to be ABS?... |

I use children's Lego bricks as ABS welding material as they come in various colours. (Edit: ..so if you can weld 2 washers together with a soldering iron, they are ABS.) |
